Amending the law on obtaining Turkish citizenship

The regulation to amend the implementation of the Turkish Nationality Law based on Resolution No. 5554 dated 12.05.2022 was published in the Official Gazette. about this amendment; New changes have been made regarding the requirement to obtain Turkish citizenship by purchasing real estate regulated by Article 20 of the Regulation on Implementation of the Turkish Citizenship Law published on 11.02.2010. In this regard, in accordance with the amendment in Clause (B) of Section Two of Article 20 of the Executive Regulations of the Turkish Citizenship Law, the requirement for obtaining Turkish citizenship by purchasing real estate worth 250,000 US dollars or its equivalent in foreign exchange has been changed to buying real estate worth 400,000 dollars US dollars or its equivalent in a foreign currency. The relevant amount has been increased from $250,000 to $400,000. The new amendments to the Regulations shall enter into force one month after the date of publication, and this standard has been in use since June 13.

As a result, the minimum amount required to obtain Turkish citizenship by purchasing real estate was "250,000" US dollars, which was published in the Official Gazette on 06.01.2022. According to the amendment that was recently published in the Official Gazette on 12.05.2022, the minimum amount to apply for Turkish citizenship by purchasing real estate has become 400,000 US dollars or its equivalent in foreign currency, where the required amount has been increased.
